Default Change up the core skills?

I was just thinking, now that all the games are out for GW1 that Anet is going to make maybe now would be a good time for them to go back and update what the core normal and elite skills. Part of this is because I remember Anet's promise that you wouldn't need all the campaigns to stay competitive in PvP. Since some of the best skills are campaign specific, maybe a handful of these skills could become upgraded to be core skills to provide a little more balance between the campaigns. Another reason for this post is some of the core skills aren't that great and something needs to be done to them.

That said, the biggest problem I see with this is what should happen to a campaign that loses an elite or one of its better skills? I think it should have some bonus given to it so the people who had it to begin with don't get shafted too much on the switch.

IMO buy more campaigns = better skills = moar munny for Anet.
I think that's all they want

To be honest, even if the money is what they want can we complain? They didn't make the game just to entertain us, also the fact I have brought all 4 copies should give me more of a bonus over somebody who has only brought a £15 copy of proph then got a guide of wiki.
Nothing in life is completly free and I do hope that the fact I spent over £60 more than a first timer it does give me a small advantage. We don't complain that armour and weapon on this game are maxable for anybody who's played over 12 hours in game so why complain over skills?
I don't think we should be able to buy power but the fact of the matter is, I've got 1,000 hours on my belt thats good enough but I did pay a hell of a lot of money too. I want the extras. It's not like anybody who owns a copy of GW is in poverty so they can save up and fork out for more too. It's still a level playing field. I've just been around longer. Thats my opinion.

There aren't even good skills in the other campaigns. I know for a fact they're going to nerf incendiary, even though, in my honest opinion, they shouldn't. If there are multiple strong skills for every profession in every category of attribute, you could be seeing some dervishes, finally striking out the Wind Prayers. Or Deadly Art assassins flying around. Give multiple buffs in tons of areas. If there's too many strong elites, it makes it harder to just stick with one elite.

Need confirmation on this, because I don't see a reason why they would. It's powerful now, yeah, but so was Poison Arrow in that 3 war condition build. Doesn't make it overpowered.

If anything maybe up the recharge to 5 or 8 seconds, but anything more than that is overkill.

/notsigned because there are PvP unlock packs that cost less

Fixed it for ya The four new kids on the block don't have any core skills, making their initial promise only half true. It's easy to stay competitive with only the main six, but it's hard to pose a legit challenge in, say, a MAT. Show me a legit guild that doesn't run a rit flagger, a DA paragon, a Return monk, or anything along those lines.

I guess what I'm saying is, for them to really make it so not all campaigns are required, they'd have to make it so all professions are available to all campaigns with all ten classes having core skills. AKA not happening. Just my two cents.

ANet should make a bunch of useful campaign specific skills into core skills, so people don't need as many campaigns (read: ANet don't sell as many games)?

Think of this from ANet's (a business) point of view, I'm sure you'll have a different opinion on this.

/notsigned anyways.

Yes and no. I was looking at the el skill set at the time I thought of my first post and noticed how some of their core elites aren't that great and that glowing gaze and glowing ice might be better off as core skills. To a lesser degree I suppose that goes for glowstone and shock arrow as well.

Not quite. I think Anet should be open to taking a few skills from outside of proph (maybe 5 or so per class) and making them core. Though part of me was also thinking that to make sure people who own those campaigns aren't ripped off, maybe new skills could be added to replace those lost. However I doubt that'll ever happen.

Even if 5 skills per class were made into core, you wouldn't be able to stay competitive in PvP.

Also, hell no to new skills. The balancing team has a hard time already balancing the current skills, an extra 50 skills would be shit.

Mending Touch, Burning Arrow, Magebane Shot, Dragonslash, Blinding Surge, Expel Hexes, and Corrupt Enchantment should all be available to people who only buy Prophecies. Why give people an incentive to buy more stuff.

/unsigned

Did the OP actually think about what he was suggesting?

Better idea, take stuff like Orison of Healing, Flare, Firestorm, Power Attack, Power Shot, etc, and make them, y'know, useful.
